Calle 23 is the product of a love-triangle between a French woman, microbiology, and some very lucky agave hearts. Sophie Decobecq brought her years of experience in yeast and microbiology to the arts of fermentation and distillation to make one of the most delicious tequilas on the market today. This “blanco” is perhaps the best of the expressions Calle offers as it preserves the life and personality of the agave itself–features often lost in even relatively short barrel aging. The palate is round and warm with soft minerals and finishes with tequila’s prized notes of citrus and pepper.
