Prosciutto Cotto’s Taste
Literally meaning “cooked ham,” Prosciutto Cotto is the Italian alternative to the American ham. Unlike with American hams, the skin of the Prosciutto is left on, which locks in moisture and flavor. It is cooked slowly, with aromatic spices, and is an excellent substitute for American ham on a sandwich, featuring a lower sodium content and more complex, delicate flavor.

How Prosciutto Cotto is Made
A delicately flavored dry cured ham, originating in Italy and made from the meat of the hindquarters of the hog. Brine cured and then pressed into a hard and dense meat, prosciutto cotto is a cooked form of prosciutto as it is boiled prior to use.
